Way to the house 47b

The house 47b is hidden behind the houses 49 (a – c). So do not hear much from the traffic on the Linzer Straße. Few meters from the entrance to the houses is the bus stop “Old Cemetery” bus line 565, which goes directly to the stations of Deutsche Bahn and the tram line 66. To the house 47b you come from the street on the left past the house 49. A few steps you can reach the houses 47a-c. In the center of the row is the entrance to the house 47b.

Location

Linzer Strasse is parallel to the Rhine River in about 300 to 400 m distance to the right. It goes along Linz (Rhine) via Unkel to the centre of Bad Honnef. Next to the road is house 49 (a … c). Behind this house in second row is 47 (a…c). Inbetween is an underground parking for 24 cars covered with a gras area.
The entrance is located on the backside of the houses. There are footpaths on either side to reach the doors.
The busstop “Alter Friedhof” is located 35m away from the houses. It is serviced by Bus 565 to Linz (Rhine) southbound and Bad Honnef Tram-Station northbound. Tramservice of Line 66 to Bonn and Siegburg starts here.

Bad Honnef - the city

Bad Honnef is a small, seemingly sleepy little town with approx. 25,000 inhabitants, it has quite hardy. Situated on the right bank of the Rhine at the foot of the Seven Mountains, it is part of the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis, bordered to the south directly to the district of Neuwied, who is already in the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The sheltered valley location creates favorable conditions for growing and assures a mild climate. Already Alexander von Humboldt named the city “Nice on the Rhine “. Formerly a rather glamorous spa, Bad Honnef has lost this status in the early 80s again.

The districts downtown and Selhof dominate the center, with its short distances and a pretty pedestrian zone. In particular, the island Grafenwerth offers attractive opportunities for recreation, as well as hikers and bikers can enjoy the nearby Seven Hills and the adjoining south west forest.
Highly recommended in every year on the first Saturday in May the upcoming event “Rhine in Flames” is.

In connection with the so-called Berlin / Bonn Act (Act to implement the decision of the German Bundestag on 20 June 1991 on completion of the reunification of Germany) was founded in 1998 by the International University of Applied Sciences Bad Honnef-Bonn, since 2001 at a central point face and life of the city clearly impressed. In early 2011 the elite high school educates about 1600 students.

In this rapid growth in recent years the city has not responded as required. In addition to the approximately 200 student apartments on the university campus private housing for missing student undocumented within walking distance. And the tense situation in the housing market will worsen further if – as planned – will increase with further introduction of new courses and master’s degree student numbers.

On the motorway A 3 (Cologne – Frankfurt), the city has its own junction. Near the center links the highway-like-developed highway B 42 in addition to the city with a fast road link to Bonn and Cologne. The two rail links (right Rhine river route to the airport Cologne-Bonn and Cologne) and the tram line 66 (to Bonn government district and center for the station Siegburg / Bonn to the high speed line Cologne – Frankfurt) leave nothing to desire for fast connections.
